Holidayphobia
It's not that I hate Bank holidays
Or even the Christmas break
It's the build up that I find stressful
And prefer 'time off' not to take.
The implication of new tomorrows
And a better life lying in wait
When in reality total disaster
Starts as I close the gate.
On the occasions when I've buckled under
To please the family and have some fun
I've found I'm nothing more than a 'packhorse'
And I can't sit idling in the sun.
If I take time off and stay at home
A hundred jobs they find for me to do
Last year I decorated three bedrooms
And I put in a brand new Loo!
So call me a 'party pooper'
Or a miserable sort of guy
But I'm happy with my day to day existence
That's just me, but don't ask me why!
