Jack the Lad

Haven't we all had a man like that?
A rogue and a 'Jack the lad'
A charmer and a philanderer
In whom we could see no bad.

Haven't we all heard our Mothers say
'This Guy just isn't for you!'
And didn't that make us more determined
To go with our own point of view.

Haven't we all regretted in the end
Not listening to our folks good advice
Well, I have to admit that I've been there
A lot more than once or twice!

Haven't we all seen sense in the end
And admitted that we were so wrong
As each generation just follows on
Singing the same old song.

Haven't we had to go it alone
And pick ourselves up off the ground
And just carry on regardless somehow
And hope that some sense we have found.
